New K Scholars Program Co-Director - Stacie Demel, DO, PhD
The CCTST K Scholars Program is pleased to announce Stacie Demel, DO, PhD as its new Co-Director!
Dr. Demel is a professor in the Department of Neurology and Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Cincinnati and brings extensive expertise in vascular neurology, stroke care, education, and research.
Her current leadership roles include:
Division Director, Vascular Neurology (Clinical Affairs and Education)
Co-Director, UC Stroke Team
Director, Vascular Neurology Fellowship
Co-Director, T32 Vascular Neurology/Neurocritical Care Fellowship
Director, Telestroke
As PI or MPI on multiple NIH-funded studies, Dr. Demel has built multidisciplinary research programs spanning translational science and clinical investigation. Through these experiences, she has gained firsthand insight into the challenges early-career investigators face as they work to establish successful, independently funded research careers.
Mentorship is among the most rewarding aspects of Dr. Demel’s academic career. Her extensive leadership and research experience has allowed her to mentor investigators across the career continuum—from trainees identifying their first research questions to junior faculty pursuing K-level and independent NIH funding.
We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Demel to the CCTST K Scholars Program leadership team and look forward to the expertise, mentorship, and enthusiasm she will bring to our scholars.
