WE C-RAB Brings Community Together for Research Health Day: WE Care to Be Healthy
On May 30, 2026, the West End Community Research Advisory Board (WE C-RAB) hosted its annual Research Health Day: WE Care to Be Healthy at the Lincoln Recreation Center, bringing together community members, researchers, healthcare providers, and local organizations for a morning dedicated to health, wellness, and learning.

Designed as an all-ages event, Research Health Day was created to help residents access valuable, trusted health resources while increasing awareness of health research opportunities in the community. The event reinforced three important messages:
Know your numbers and stay current with recommended health screenings.
Establish a relationship with a primary care physician.
Learn about health research and how it can improve community health outcomes.
Thanks to WE C-RAB's partnerships with researchers and community organizations, the event featured 32 vendors representing a wide range of health and wellness resources. Attendees had opportunities to learn about heart health, Alzheimer's disease, mental health, stress management, blood pressure monitoring, and other health topics affecting children, teens, adults, and seniors.

More than 70 community members attended the event. Throughout the morning, residents engaged in health education activities, screenings, family-friendly games and demonstrations while learning about local services and research opportunities.
The event also delivered tangible health and safety benefits to participants. Community members received:
Prostate and cervical cancer screenings
More than 15 A1C screenings
More than 20 blood pressure cuffs for home monitoring
75 gun locks to support injury prevention and household safety

In addition, attendees learned about ongoing research participation opportunities and ways to become involved in studies that address health concerns important to their communities.
Research Health Day demonstrates the impact of community-driven engagement and trusted partnerships. By bringing health resources, education, and research opportunities directly into the neighborhood, WE C-RAB continues to empower residents with the knowledge and tools they need to make informed decisions about their health and well-being. Together, they are helping build a healthier, more informed, and more connected West End community.
About the Research Participant Advisory Group (RPAG). The RPAG, comprised of three advisory groups: CCHMC RPAC, UC RPAC and WE C-RAB, is a resource available to anyone across the Academic Health Center interested in learning the research participant or community perspective and improving how research is conducted at the hospital, university, or out in the community. If you are interested in seeking feedback from one of these groups at one of our meetings, or through electronic survey, contact Julie Wijesooriya, Julie.Wijesooriya@cchmc.org.
