K CLUB

Are you interested in getting an early boost to your research career?

Any faculty member at University of Cincinnati (UC) or Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC) with an institutional or external career development award, or who is planning to apply for a career development award, is invited to join the K Club, which is supported through the CCTST KL2 program.

K Club is a cross-institutional collaborative forum focused on early career faculty and research career development.

Examples of presented topics include: manuscript writing, leading teams and effective meetings, community-engaged research, data visualization, and successful transition from K to R01.

Presentation Title:
Transitioning from the Role of Mentee to Mentor as Faculty

Learning Objectives:

  • Develop a plan for becoming a mentor, taking into consideration time, funding, type of scholarly activity, and trainee-specific factors before committing to a mentoring relationship.

  • Create goals and timeline to develop resources that set expectations, timelines, and preferences to foster healthy mentor-mentee relationships.

Dr. Tang Girdwood has been on faculty in both the divisions of Hospital Medicine and Translational & Clinical Pharmacology at CCHMC since 2020. While on the CHRCDA K12 Award and now on an NIGMS R35 MIRA award, she has (co)-mentored 4 clinical fellows, one post-doctoral fellow and multiple undergraduate and medical students in various translational, clinical and educational research studies. She is also the co-director of the Pediatric Clinical Pharmacology T32 fellowship and K12 Program.
