LIVE WELL COLLABORATIVE

The Live Well Collaborative (LWC) is an organization dedicated to conducting leading-edge user research which is translated into desired solutions that meet the complexities of living well across the lifespan. Merging an unparalleled academia and industry model with their vetted design process, they co-create uniquely designed solutions for all users. The LWC provides a unique multidisciplinary team composed of faculty and students from UC’s top-ranking colleges to offer its industry partners cutting-edge design expertise.

The Live Well team is skilled in product design, UI/UX design, animation, service design, 2D/3D modeling, low-med-high fidelity prototyping, packaging design, consumer research, and AR/VR design.

DESIGN THINKING

LWC has created a unique design thinking approach to solve design challenges. Design Thinking is a problem-solving methodology grounded in a deep understanding of the needs and challenges, as well as the goals and aspirations, of the person or group that solutions are being designed for. On-going iteration and co-creation of solutions to ensure they are meeting intended objectives is a key part of the process.

Live Well Collaborative Product + Service Design

PRODUCT + SERVICE DESIGN

  • Proposed business cases and design challenges are evaluated by a multidisciplinary team of students and faculty throughout a 14- to 16- week studio project, which results in the creation of innovative design concepts and solutions for consumers to live well across their lifespan.

  • At project completion, the business owns all design concepts and intellectual property developed during the project.

Live Well Collaborative User-Centered Research

USER-CENTERED RESEARCH

  • Through Think Tanks, workshops, and studios, LWC has a wealth of design research knowledge centered around various product and service categories.

  • LWC has developed a variety of research tools to promote innovation and collaborative thinking that allow you to break down the barriers of conventional brainstorming and see the problem from a different perspective, leading to creative design solutions.

Live Well Collaborative Design Education

DESIGN EDUCATION

  • To enhance your organization's design process, LWC offers online learning modules and customized learning labs.

DESIGN THINKING RESEARCH AWARDS

Together, the CCTST and LWC sponsor the Design Thinking Research Awards. This grant opportunity provides partial support for a Studio project. Your team identifies a healthcare challenge and the LWC works with UC to form a design led team (comprised of both faculty and students). The team will utilize design thinking tools and a “co-creation” model with stakeholders (e.g. patients, parents, clinicians) to develop innovative products or services to address the healthcare challenge. The Studio structure facilitates development of ideas that are actionable and implementable. Your team walks away with experience in human centered design methodology that can be used to address future challenges and sustainable tools/prototypes that are ready for testing and iteration.
